Title: 4PLAY RELOADED (1 – 3)
Sequel: NONE
Starring: Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Nelson, Majid Michel, Yvonne Okoro, John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah, Eddie Watson
Synopsis:
This is an adventure that follows the lives of four female friends, each with drama in the love department.
Review:
Although Chloe (Yvonne Nelson) played with her “boy-toy” she literally prayed for “Mr. Right.” When her dream man appeared at her door she was not only shocked, but grateful to God. However, just when a marriage proposal was in route, her shady past came back to haunt her.
Jezel (Jackie Appiah) was happily married but wondered if her husband was faithful. She hired her pretty friend to test his fidelity but it’s her friend’s loyalty that became a question.
The third woman, Ruby (Yvonne Okoro), was dealing with a bi-sexual husband. They had separated and as he tried to woo her back, she had a new love waiting in the wings. It turned out that Ruby’s husband was later hurt in an accident and it was then that she realized which man had her heart.
The last woman, Angie (Roslyn Ngissah) had recently separated from her philandering husband. She believed she would never find another man but her cousin’s fiancé took a liking to her. Meanwhile, her husband was homeless and dated women who just used him for sex.
Let’s Talk. This is a “dramedy” (drama and comedy). Writer, Pascal Amanfo, took real life situations along with some unlikely ones, mixed in some comedy, and gave birth to “4Play Reloaded.”
Some movies are taken seriously and then there are those made in the name of fun. This one is the latter. Topics such as infidelity, bisexuality, and dating younger people, were all tackled light-heartedly.
One of the funniest scenes in the movie was Chloe’s prayer for a man. Among the list of qualifications, her man had to be at least six feet tall, with a six-pack, and a dimple. It’s hilarious on many levels because there are many women who have unrealistic lists. It seems to be all about the exterior and not the interior. Chloe interestingly forgot to ask for honesty, loyalty, and a sense of humor – all important traits.
Chloe’s dream man indeed came along in Eric (Eddie Watson). Their relationship was so cute because at first they were attracted to each other but both were too shy to admit it. It’s through their courtship that the movie was able to display the awkwardness that can sometimes occur in new relationships.
As for performances, Majid Michel was in rare form and brought humor to his character, Alvin. Alvin was delusional and thought he was a player but he was actually the one being played. When he got tired of being a sex slave for women, he found his way home to something substantial – his wife.
Although “4-Play Reloaded” does entail its share of foolishness, it was captivating and funny. It garners three “E’s” – an “E” for effort, an “E” for excellent humor, and an “E” for everyone should have “4Play Reloaded” in their movie collection. RECOMMEND
