Starring: Mbong Amata, Michael Godson, Mary Remmy
Synopsis:
A socially awkward young woman lies to her parents about having a boyfriend and it eventually caught up with her…in a good way.
Review:
Winnie (Mbong Amata), was under the gun to settle down and get married. Her mother wanted grandchildren but as an introvert, Winnie’s love life was basically non-existent. It was during a phone call that Winnie told her mother that she had a boyfriend just to shut her up.
But when her mother came to town, Winnie had to scramble to find a man that would pretend to be her boyfriend. Well, how about John? John (Michael Godson) was her neighbor and he fit the bill perfectly. He was charming and handsome and he definitely had experience with women.
John agreed to the charade and he played the role so well that Winnie’s parents loved him. Winnie was certainly attracted to him but unlike her, his love life was booming.
Let’s Talk. This is a story of opposites attract where a “good girl” mingles with a player. John pretended to be Winnie’s knight in shining armor with basically no fallout. As the two gamed her parents, quality time sparked familiarity which opened the door to a possible romance.
The story was character driven as Mbong Amata played a socially inept woman that didn’t have a lot of experience with men. On the contrary, John was a Casanova and it was hard to believe that he abandoned his player lifestyle to help her, a woman that he barely knew. Even if he were truly her boyfriend he wasn’t required to spend as much time with her family to the extent that he did.
The flip side is that the family time is what made the story relatable. The fact that John was so respectable and helpful actually made him an appealing character.
The story moved at a respectable pace with no unnecessary scenes. Hallelujah! What’s also commendable was that the relationship between the love interests developed slowly. Filmmakers tend to cut to the next phase of relationships and evade important moments that the audience should be made privy to.
Performances? Mbong Amata effortlessly portrayed the quirky and insecure nature of her character. She had a palpable chemistry with co-star, Michael Godson and the two made the cutest pair.
This was one of those easy-going, romantic movies. It was a predictable story but it serves as a whimsical reminder that anything is possible when it comes to matters of the heart. RECOMMEND

Hi Phionah, yes, Bilya Yakubu, one the comments from above stated that the song is called “It’s You” by George Nathaniel but it isn’t available for download. I feel for those of you who want the songs but they’re not available. It was most likely just recorded for the movie. Hopefully, film producers are recognizing viewer interest in the songs and will make them available going forward. Best Regards…
