Starring: Blossom Chukwujekwu, Sika Osei, Kiki Omeili, Mawuli Gavor
Synopsis:
With trouble in paradise, two couples are faced with ending their relationship or rekindling their love.
Review:
Abena (Sika Osei), an aspiring writer, had been tolerating Kwames’s (Mawuli Gavor) neglectful ways. The two had been dating for six years but over the course of their courtship, Kwame constantly put his job first and stood her up numerous occasions. But his love for her seemed genuine and when he finally popped the question it presented a fresh start for them.
To compensate, Kwame took Abena on a trip in order to spend quality time together but Abena woke up in the hotel room to an empty bed. Kwame disappeared and Abena later learned that he traveled to Kenya on business. He didn’t consult her about his plans and Abena was infuriated. It was the last straw and she broke up with him.
Another couple, Dimeji (Blossom Chukwujekwu) and Dole (Kiki Omeili) were on the brink of divorce because they couldn’t let go of a tragic incident from their past. Stress provoked Dimeji to leave town and he coincidently booked the same hotel room that Kwame and Abena exited.
Abena and Dimeji were two people that needed someone outside of their relationship to talk to and fate brought them together. They were strangers that confided in each other while their significant others were left to their own devises to reconsider their actions.
Let’s Talk. This movie is more relationship drama but it happens to offer a fresh perspective. The two main couples shared genuine love but like all couples, they were faced with problems.
Abena, the main character, was an aspiring writer and her manuscript echoed the theme of the movie. She wrote about life and happiness and for her, a place called happy related to three things: 1) someone to love, 2) a purpose in life, and 3) something to hope for. Who can argue with that?
The screenplay was well written in that it wasn’t predictable and it didn’t reveal the heart of the story right away. It did move slowly but was never boring. The dilemma was whether the couples would allow their problems to control the relationship or would they conquer the problem.
Each scene was significant and moved the story along. There was no need for fluff, which made the film sharp and to the point while it reminded us of life’s purpose.
What’s refreshing is that the writer expressed other relationship problems besides infidelity. More importantly, the story demonstrated that we don’t always have to buckle to temptation or act on an attraction to someone outside of our relationship.
The casting was excellent and performances made the movie successful. Blossom Chukwujekwu was awesome at portraying a man submerged in agony. His co-star, Sika Osei, brought a certain energy to her role that made her a pleasure to watch.
“A Place Called Happy” is a movie with meaning and purpose. If you’re looking for your happy place, this is a solid point of reference. RECOMMEND

Please, there’s a beautiful song used in this movie, I need the name please
Please what is the quote at the end of the movie about “we cannot change the past..thank you
Ray, it means that we can’t go back in time and change anything that happened in life. It also equates to forgiveness. Forgive ourselves and forgive others. It’s always best to move forward and not dwell on the past. Fill your spirit with positive energy and that’s what you’ll attract to your life. Thanks for stopping by.
