Title: A REASON TO KILL (1 – 3)
Starring: Jackie Appiah, Majid Michel, Eddie Watson, Ebi Bright, Kafui Danku
Synopsis:
A man who recently had a heart transplant insists on learning the identity of the benefactor only to become wrapped up in her criminal shenanigans.
Review:
Benny (Majid Michel) is a movie star in need of a transplant and he luckily received the heart of Jolie’s (Jackie Appiah) late husband. Feeling a new lease on life he insisted on the learning the identity of the donor so he can thank the person. Fortunately for him, he had a personal relationship with his doctor and she disclosed Jolie’s information.
Long story short, Benny found Jolie and introduced himself to her. She appeared to be still distraught over the recent death of her husband.
In time it was discovered that Jolie’s husband was murdered and that she had a hand in it. Benny was unaware of her misdeeds and fell in love with her to the point where he was willing to do anything for her, including murder.
Let’s Talk. This is a suspense drama where the wife kills her husband and tries to get away with it. It’s a carefully laid out drama however, it becomes obvious early on that Jolie was not a victim in her husband’s death.
The subplot was about Dr. Alicia’s (Kafui Danku) secret love for Benny which was a storyline that basically went nowhere. There’s a twist at the end that struck me as a little overkill but that’s how suspense dramas roll.
For further comments, there was a club scene where Calvin (Eddie Watson) was dancing and received a phone call. In real life, who can actually hear their phone ringing in a crowded club with loud music playing? It would have been plausible to have the phone vibrate and then the audience would see Calvin pick up the phone. This scene was completely unbelievable and required better thought.
The acting here wss pretty good. Majid never disappoints and Jackie Appiah did her role justice playing the cold-hearted villain. RECOMMEND
