Title: ABUJA MARRIAGE (1 & 2)
Sequel: NONE
Starring: Mercy Johnson, Desmond Elliott
Synopsis:
A man marries a successful woman for money but makes future plans with his secret lover.
Review:
It’s all about the money. Chris (Desmond Elliott) followed in his friend’s footsteps and married for money instead of love. He met a wealthy woman at church and quickly headed for the altar.
Shortly into the marriage, Chris moved his lover into his marital home and led his wife to believe that she was the house help. While Chris and his girlfriend fornicated and made future plans, karma paid them a visit.
Let’s Talk. This movie leveled the playing field by displaying that men are gold diggers too. Chris and his best friend both married their sugar mommas and both marriages were on the brink of failure. The relationship between Chris and his side girlfriend, Winifred (Mercy Johnson) came out of nowhere but was later delved into.
When Chris’ wife learned of his cheating, it was disheartening to watch her tolerate the disrespect that he dished out. After all, she was a successful woman so why should she be reduced to an idiot because of a man? This character should have been written with a little more self-esteem.
As for bloopers, when Amanda (Eucharia Anunobi-Ekwu) was supposed to be dead (or at least the audience was supposed to think so for the moment) we could clearly see her stomach heaving from the fight scene.
Performances sufficed. Mercy Johnson and Desmond Elliott were the ones to watch.
At the end of the day the only thing worth seeing was Desmond Elliott dressed up as a woman. Too much time was spent on subplots and characters that the audience wasn’t vested in. “Abuja Marriage” simply wasn’t compelling enough. EJECT
