Title: BEAUTY OF THE GODS (1 – 6)
Starring: Chacha Eke Faani, Gentle Jack, Browny Igboegwu, Sam Obiago
Synopsis:
A newly married warrior is denied a “happily ever after” life when the King sets his eyes on his wife.
Review:
Dike (Gentle Jack) was a village warrior known for his character and strength. Many maidens feasted their eyes on him but he only had eyes for Urimma (Chacha Eke). The two married and life seemed fine until the night of the Village Square dance. Urimma was the lead dancer and her beauty and dance moves mesmerized the King.
The king was married and so was Urimma but that didn’t deter his fatal attraction. He devised a scheme that sent Dike to war with the plan of having him killed. The Gods cautioned Dike to refrain from war but his wife blindly encouraged him to defend his people. Sadly, he did not return from the battle and the King’s mission was accomplished.
Next on the agenda was for the King to eliminate his wife. With that obstacle out of the way the King’s greatest task was to create love in Uremia’s heart for him. But the Gods were always watching and it wasn’t long before they overruled the King’s plans.
Let’s Talk. The one theme we’ll never be rid of – love. This is a traditional African movie about love and war that takes place in a village where life was primordial. The movie presented true love contrasted with an obsessive king that literally stopped at nothing to get the woman of his desire.
There were blemishes in the story. The character of the King is a questionable item. He found that he was attracted to Urimma and as a result he didn’t speak for months. Seriously? He just sulked like a b*tch because he couldn’t have a woman? What kind of King is that? What kind of man is that? The King should have been written with royalty and traits of a leader.
Furthermore, the so-called King murdered innocent people to be with a woman that gave him absolutely no indication that she would ever be with him. Really?
Another fault is Urimma’s change of heart. Without giving the story away, where was the transition from one extreme to the next? The writer needed to come up with a concrete reason for Urimma’s altered responses.
Thankfully, there were some positives. The scenes with Ndudi played Prince Emeka Achiloun were enthusiastic. He was the young son of a Goddess and he possessed spiritual powers to foresee the future. This actor stole all of the that scenes he was in. He was about twelve maybe, but he had the philosophy of an adult and he seemed to be enjoying the role.
“Beauty of the Gods” is also doused with words of wisdom and if you prefer the traditional route, you’ll appreciate this movie’s simplistic life, tribal garb, and its mystical spirit.
As for technical issues, the sound was not the best. Some dialogue was low and it was especially hard to hear dialogue when music played. Visual effects weren’t top notch but that’s okay because when they appeared, we understood.
At the end of the day, this was a six-part mini series and I would estimate that it ran for more than four hours! The question becomes whether the story is worthy of this kind of time. Although I actually appreciated some aspects of it, based on length, story issues, and a basic storyline, I would pass on this one. EJECT

I love me some village movies and this one is good for a one time watch..love the actors/actress.
I had this movie for a long time and I always thought “SIX parts. OMG when will I ever have time to watch this?” Overall it wasn’t time well spent for me but as stated in the review, those who like this type of genre will appreciate it. And like you, it’s a movie that I will never watch again.

Hi Dingmer, Thank you for the compliments. This website requires a lot of work so your words are encouraging. As for downloading movies, there used to be a website called MyNollywoodNow but I think the site is down. I’m not sure where else you can download but if I hear of any I will post it here.
