Review:
Ella (Yvonne Okoro) is in the battle of her life to save her marriage to Andy (John Dumelo). Thanks to his philandering ways he met Zina (Martha Ankomah), Ella’s sister. Andy was having an affair with Zina’s roommate when they initially met. Despite the romance with the roommate, Zina and Andy were instantly attracted to each other. Both were unaware of the other’s relationship with Ella.
Zina and Ella had been estranged and the two sisters were on the verge being reacquainted when Zina moved in with Ella temporarily. This is when Zina and Andy discovered they were both related to Ella. The chaos commenced when Andy and Zina surreptitiously carried on with an affair while the three cohabitated.
Zina hatched a plan that involved hiring an underground private detective. Ella believed the detective’s agenda was to find the “other woman” that Andy was cheating with. She was unaware that the competition was her sister and that Zina had a game plan.
Zina carried out her plan to ruin Ella’s marriage and to also extort money from her. Zina carefully played both sides of the fence but Ella was desperate to save her marriage and she did some investigating of her own.
Let’s Talk. This is a drama about two sisters that turned against each other over a man that wasn’t even worth it. The story plays out while the “definitions of life” is narrated by Pascal Amanfo.
Although Ella’s five-year marriage was already on the rocks before Zina entered the picture, Ella placed the blame on the women instead of her husband.
Zina successfully carried out her plan and just when she thought life was looking up, Ella put her plan of revenge in motion. Not everything was what it seemed as allies and secrets changed hands and kept the drama interesting.
Performances were on par however Martha Ankomah was the standout. She had a great performance as the conniver and then bed-ridden Zina.
As for technicalities, there were some sound issues. Some of the dialogue was muffled, especially when characters were yelling.
“Bed of Roses” is excellence in its prime and is the epitome of drama. Not a dull moment here. Highly RECOMMEND
