Starring: Ramsey Nouah, Genevieve Nnaji, Jim Iyke, Rita Dominic
Synopsis:
Juliet and Austin break up and then play a series of mental games in order to test the love of the other.
Review:
Susan (Jennifer Eliogu) thought she found the love of her life when James (Jim Iyke) proposed to her but he instead broke her heart when she found out he was engaged to another and expecting a child.
Miriam (Rita Dominic) loved Frank (Ernest Asuzu), who was the dog of the century, but she finally split with him when she got fed up of his constant womanizing.
Juliet (Genevieve Nnaji) had just received a promotion at work and her personal life was also glowing with Austin (Ramsey Nouah) as her boyfriend but things took a turn when she caught him in a restaurant having dinner with another woman. Juliet chose not to make a public scene, which left Austin perturbed about how to handle the situation.
Phone calls ceased between the two and then psychological games ensued. Each attempted to make the other jealous and the mental battle continued for longer than it should have. Calling a truce was very necessary before irreparable damage was done to the relationship.
Let’s Talk. This drama started off really slow at first as it followed the love lives of its co-stars. It drifted aimlessly until it finally established a sense of direction.
The rule here was to “break up with a guy first before he breaks up with you.” Those were the words of Juliet (Genevieve Nnaji) and it was the starting point of her psychological warfare with Austin (Ramsey Nouah).
The movie really started when Juliet and Austin took front burner. They were the most interesting couple to watch and the way they toyed with each other was the crux of the movie. Austin caused the relationship to shift when he had dinner with a woman and then lied about his whereabouts. The movie’s dynamics developed from there.
The truth is that the possibility for a relationship to recover from betrayal depends on the actions of the betrayer. Depending on their response they will either help repair the shattered trust or further damage the relationship.
Austin decided not to call right away after he was caught in the act and then he noticed that Juliet hadn’t called him and this was where the games began. Had he called immediately and nipped the friction in the bud we wouldn’t have had such an entertaining movie with such humorous shenanigans.
The moral in the story? 1) Being straightforward saves a lot of precious time and 2) Friends don’t always offer the best advice.
Performances? Good. Ramsey Nouah had more of an emotional role than Genevieve and the spark between them was magnetic. The co-stars were also believable in their roles its just that their storylines weren’t as interesting.
If you need a refresher course in how to keep your significant other in line then this is the movie to watch. It’s a decent drama with a little humor and nimble music. RECOMMEND
