Review:
“Cheaters” is a light-hearted “dramedy” centered on couples dealing with infidelity. Roger (Henry Adofo Asiedu) is no longer attracted to Clara (Okawa Shaznay), his wife of two years. He cheats on her with a married woman, Carina (Uche Joan Iwuanyawu). As Roger and Carina meet up for their secret afternoon romp in the hay, their respective spouses follow them and they ultimately wind up in bed together.
Our only seemingly happy couple is Jane and Raj (Jackie Appiah and Adjetey Anang). But when Raj hears about the infidelity going on in his friends’ lives he sets a trap to test his wife’s loyalty.
Let’s Talk. This movie has a similar vibe to Pascal Amamfo’s “4Play Reloaded.” The characters were weaved together well however, some of the story situations are ridiculous. For instance, when Raj disguises himself as “Jason” it was unbelievable that his own wife wouldn’t recognize him.
Also, the scene where Richie (Omar Sherif Captan) had all of his women in the house at the same time was also highly unlikely because the best gigolos would never play it that close. And did Roger really slap Clara when she admitted she cheated on him? The nerve of him when he cheated first. She should have slapped his a** back.
In Book 2, the cheating continued (of course) and this time around Jane disguised herself as “Anna-Lisa” and her husband unwittingly went to bed with her. Again, it’s absolutely absurd that two people who are married wouldn’t recognize the other.
As for Roger and Clara, their marriage was still on the rocks in Book 2. Womanizer, Richie ended his player days when he fell in love with Jannet (Miriam Thomas Orjiekwe). Boy, did he fall for the wrong girl. Also in this series, Bismark Nii Odoi brought the humor.
There were errors in the credits. Salma Mumin played the role of Janice but the role was listed as played by Cash Janice. Chichi Neblet played the role of “Tonya” but was listed as playing “Wendy.” Adjetey Anang’s last name is spelled incorrectly as “Annan.” For more on industry errors, see the Nolly-Ghally Today report.
In terms of acting, “Cheaters” featured some of the best actors and performances here were on par.
To surmise, “Cheaters” isn’t serious; it’s seriously funny. Does it answer the question as to why people cheat? Somewhat. Clearly “Cheaters” was produced in the name of fun and viewers should just roll with the punches and enjoy the laughs. RECOMMEND
