Review:

It was Omoye’s birthday (Joselyn Dumas) and her husband, Mayowa (Jim Iyke) surprised her with a four-day trip to a resort. She was reluctant at first as duty called but her boss let her off the hook for a few days.

While at the resort Mayowa (Jim Iyke) met Tare (Enyinna Nwigwe) while ordering drinks. The two men struck up a conversation and Tare confided that he was about to propose to Temi (Beverly Naya), his girlfriend. But that all fell by the wayside when Tare recognized Omoye (Joselyn Dumas) at the pool.

Tare (Enyinna Nwigwe) and Omoye (Joselyn Dumas) had a short but torrid affair five years ago that Omoye abruptly ended.  Upon meeting again, their  feelings instantly resurfaced causing Tare’s desire to rekindle the relationship. Although Omoye confessed she was married, the two managed a few stolen moments which, forced Omoye to question her marriage.

Let’s Talk. Love or lust? Can a relationship have both? Well, not in this story. Here we have a married woman who still had the hots for her ex-lover – a guy who was on the brink of proposing to someone else. Omoye (Joselyn Dumas) was tempted by him because he triggered a part of her that her husband didn’t.  The sexual chemistry caused a stir that one of them had to stop before damage was done to both of their relationships.

The movie had a slow and cold start. A lot of the dialogue was dry and boring and made the set up feel like an hour. Actually, it almost was an hour. It felt like we were eavesdropping on regular people (non actors) instead of watching a buildup of an exciting story to come.

Finally there was a turn of events when Tare told Omoye two words – “Poolside. Midnight.” This was their first rendezvous and it was important because the audience would get to experience what they shared. The problem was that their fire was lukewarm. Their backstory was slow to come, and in spurts, which made if hard to root for them.

However, there actually was a compatible synergy between them – way more than they had with their current mates. They actually looked good together unlike the remaining couples who appeared  mismatched but it worked for story purposes.

The question of the day became lust or stability? Steamy sex or a meaningful relationship? These were the questions Omoye had to toy with while she played with her marriage. Obviously, the sexual chemistry was missing in her marriage and it tempted her to cheat. Can a solid relationship have hot sex too?  That’s the goal although it doesn’t always happen in life. Since both men had something the other didn’t, Omoye had to decide what was most important.

Speaking of decisions, the question of whether Tare would end up with Temi (Beverly Naya) was debatable. Why would he be with a woman that he clearly didn’t love enough? It’s better to be single and wait than to be with a second choice. A fake “happily ever after” in stories should always be avoided. The writer gave the audience no reason to believe in their relationship.

The acting was the heart of the movie. Jim Iyke took command of his character and he had the best moment when he realized his wife may be cheating on him. The remaining cast presented their character’s emotions well also.

Sooo, should you watch this movie if you haven’t already? It wasn’t perfect but it’s a decent story that explored temptation.  RECOMMEND
