Starring: John Dumelo, Nikki Samonas, Evans Anaele
Synopsis:
A man used his sister’s photo to attract a rich businessman online. The brother/sister duo planned to dupe a guy out of his money but the sister had a change of heart when she developed feelings for the guy.
Review:
Alan (Evans Anaele) used his sister’s picture on Facebook to engage Kelvin (John Dumelo), in conversation. Kelvin is a wealthy businessman with a facebook profile and he believed he was communicating with an attractive woman.
Alan convinced his sister, Erica (Nikki Samonas), to play along in the game and help him dupe Kelvin out of some money. She agreed to meet Kelvin and pretend that she was interested in him. When they met for the first time, Kelvin was instantly attracted to her. One thing led to another and they became involved.
Kelvin eventually fell in love and also fell right into the scheme. But midway through the plot Erica found herself genuinely caring about Kelvin. Their relationship hung in the balance when she admitted her role in the plan to rob him.
Let’s Talk. “Facebook Lovers” delves into today’s world of unscrupulous people online and the trickery that can sometimes occur. Although the events are true to life, this happens to be a poorly executed story.
Some of the story didn’t make sense. For example, there was a scene where Erica requested that Kelvin’s accountant give her a check for 50,000 from his business. When Kelvin learned about the check he was pissed because he didn’t authorize it. The next thing we know, Kelvin made Erica his chief accountant. Huh? That made zero sense. After what she pulled he should not have trusted her.
Performances were nothing to write home about. As for technical issues, video quality and sound wasn’t the greatest.
Overall, it’s a silly story that failed to captivate. Not worth the time. EJECT
