Starring: Alexx Ekubo, Victor Olaotan, Daniel Lloyd, Onyi Alex
Synopsis:
A young man facing financial hardship entertains a proposal from a wealthy man seeking a night with his girlfriend in exchange for a substantial amount of money.
Review:
Alex (Alexx Ekubo) finally found true love with Juliet (Onyi Alex) but life went south when he lost his job and his house. He managed to rent another place but finding another job was unfruitful.
They came across a wealthy man who realized they were struggling and he helped them out but his ulterior motive surfaced when he offered Alex twenty million naira for one night with Juliet.
Let’s Talk. Remember the Hollywood movie “Indecent Proposal” starring Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson? Well, this movie is a knock off of it with a different twist.
This movie started off bland and remained that way until the turning point presented itself. The issue with the story was that the couple was unmarried so it was inappropriate for Alex to ask his lady to have sex with man for money when she wasn’t legally his to offer!!
If Alex needed money then why didn’t he sleep with the man? Why is it that a woman has to sacrifice her morals and dignity? Again, it’s not like she was his wife – not that that makes it right. Also strange was that when hard times hit, Alex just accepted that Juliet wasn’t working. What was her excuse for not working?
The bottom line is that the story was inadequate and the situation wasn’t dire enough to warrant such drastic measures. Additionally, it failed to conjure up the emotional levels necessary to sustain interest. Now, there was a plot twist that brought the story together but the dynamics are still required to make sense.
Performances? This movie may have worked better if the female lead was played by a stronger actress. I understand that the best way to hone skills as an actor is to actually perform in front of the camera but a weak script with weak acting normally doesn’t get very far.
A better version of the Hollywood movie “Indecent Proposal” is titled “A Night with Her” starring Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, and James Gardiner. “Hello” just didn’t cut it. EJECT
