Title: HIDDEN TREASURE (1 & 2)
Starring: Ramsey Nouah, Nadia Buari, Olu Jacobs, Stephanie Okereke
Synopsis:
A woman’s jealousy flairs when her agenda to win the heart of a prince backfires.
Review:
Prince Richard (Ramsey Nouah) in all of his majesty thought he found true love in Liza (Nadia Buari) but when he didn’t propose fast enough her girlfriends convinced her to play with his heart.
Liza ignored all of his phone calls and when he came to her home in search of her, she pretended to have another man in her bed, just to make him jealous.
The tactic worked and the prince was jealous but he was also heartbroken with a crushed ego. He was a handsome man that was capable of offering any woman a life of comfort yet he had no one to love.
After he left Liza’s home, he instructed his driver to take him to the forest for time to reflect. There, he met Nadine (Stephanie Okereke) who was mourning the loss of her sister. Their chance meeting was a little hostile at first but the two eventually fell in love.
Nadine wasn’t royalty and she had a skeleton in her closet that made the King disapprove of her. However, the prince didn’t care about her past and he asked for her hand in marriage. The king wasn’t pleased with his proposal and consequently disowned him.
Meanwhile, Liza made attempts to get the prince back but the core of her interest was the royal status and all that came with it. When her advances failed, she wallowed in misery. Her bitterness prompted her to hire hit men that she ordered to cripple Nadine. She also had a special bullet ready for the prince.
Let’s Talk. This is a royal tale with all the crowns, maidens, and wealth. It’s about love, competition, and status. The movie is comprised of two parts, which were long but managed to stay captivating.
The movie reflects the thin line between love and hate as well as the poor mingling with the rich. Both of the prince’s women were maidens but only one of them truly loved him while the rejected woman resorted to murder. The movie then cut to a storyline where the innocent was framed for murder and there were other surprises and a crazy twist at the end.
The writing was a little convoluted in that some plots came out of nowhere that made the story seem all over the map. Also, the love between Nadine and the prince happened so fast that it was difficult to become invested in them.
There were other holes in the story such as the Nadine’s kidnapping. This issue was skirted over and no one investigated the how and why of that incident. Even at the court case, it was obvious that Liza was the culprit yet the Nadine character couldn’t put two and two together.
Performances were pretty good. Ramsey Nouah was as handsome as ever and his chemistry with Nadia Buari was terrific. Too bad their romance was short lived.
Overall, “Hidden Treasure” is a decent love story with all of the royal hoopla. Be sure to have a maiden drop petals at your feet before you go to bed tonight. RECOMMEND
