Starring: Uzor Arukwe, Chris Attoh, Adesua Etomi, Sika Osei
Synopsis: Recently released from prison, a man tries to reconnect with his wife unaware that she’s plotting against him.
Review:
Debo’s (Uzor Arukwe) first stop out of prison was naturally his home where he was welcomed with a party of family and friends. Although his wife, Kate (Adesua Etomi) kept the household financially afloat, their relationship was strained due to prior issues as well as his six-year absence.
After a few weeks passed, Debo and Kate still had not connected in the bedroom. Debo believed she was cheating so he hired Bella (Sika Osei), a private detective, to trail her. His relationship with Bella wasn’t exactly professional due to a past fling which muddied the waters. But alliances soon changed hands when Kate asked for a divorce and ulterior motives surfaced.
Let’s Talk. This is a drama about an ex-convict trying to reconnect in society as well as with family. He returned after a six-year prison term hoping to pick up where his marriage left off. His wife was all work and no play and her harbored resentment placed her on the fence about the marriage. With key players in their lives, each underhandedly set out to outsmart the other.
Quite frankly, the movie started out as a snooze fest. The scene where Kate met Debo at the door at the welcome party was strange. She was all decked out in a white gown only to just stare at him when he arrived? No words, no hug, not even a kiss? Maybe this scene was edited and the filmmakers decided it would be more dramatic this way? It wasn’t. We later learned of their relationship issues but a fake hug would have been better than nothing.
The fact that Kate hadn’t seen her husband in six years and she wasn’t all over him, even if it was just for the sex was unbelievable, especially because he was a handsome man with a nice physique. Also questionable was that he just allowed her to run the show both at home and at the office – a business he half owned.
Ultimately, too much time was spent on the stale relationship before we finally got to the interesting part where Debo hired a private investigator. There were parts that were just too convenient such as the scene where Debo hired Bella (Sika Osei), and the next thing we know she had access to the entire house to run her investigation. Or the part where Kate happened to be in the right place at the right time to see Bella undressing.
The attempt at humor where the secretary ate the chocolate that Kate received as a gift also didn’t cut it. Actually, it was tacky. Who would accept their secretary taking it upon herself to open a personal gift and then take it for herself without permission?
The point of the movie? Hmm…that’s the question. We have a guy who committed murder, paid the price in jail, came home seeking a fresh start, and when he allowed his suspicion to get the best of him, he took action that caused him to wind up at the bottom again. Of course there was betrayal and infidelity at the helm but where would movie land be without betrayal and infidelity? It was just a simple story that didn’t really strike a chord.
For technical issues, the sound was problematic. I thought the new Nollywood was past this? Tsk, tsk.
Performances? The stand out was Sika Osei who seamlessly switched it up from housemaid to private detective/love interest. Her presence commanded attention and she was the most interesting character.
Overall, the screenplay had potential but there were instances that didn’t ring true, the story was so-so, and it didn’t conclude with a sense of satisfaction. EJECT

I agree with 90% of your review but not this one. I actually enjoyed this movie which I watched on Netflix. I give 3.5 stars. The lead stars performed superb and I liked the fact that lost all that money. Also I liked the fact that Kate outsmart both David and Debo. Your reviews are very good. Please keep it up.
