Title: JEALOUS HUSBAND (1 & 2)
Sequel: END OF A JEALOUS HUSBAND (1 & 2)
Starring: Uche Jombo, Van Vicker
Synopsis:
Emeka was kind enough to forgive his wife’s past as a prostitute but four years into the marriage her past still haunted him.
Review:
Emeka (Van Vicker) is a wealthy man that picked up a prostitute (Uche Jombo) in a nightclub. He actually fell in love with her, they are later married and had children. Happily ever after? Not quite. Unfortunately, Emeka had a possessive nature and couldn’t deal with his wife’s past as a call girl.
Four years into their marriage, Emeka was still driving himself crazy trying to erase any inkling of his wife’s past. But this was easier said than done since her prostitute friends were still in her life and any man that she came into contact with was suspect.
Let’s Talk. This is a drama about an insecure man. Emeka allowed his jealousy to drive him to the point of paranoia. The subplot dealt with the ills of prostitution.
The funniest part of this movie was when a utility guy came to the house to read the meter. Emeka was instantly suspicious of him, went berserk, and actually accused the guy of wanting to rape his wife. The utility guy was astounded and clueless and this created the humor in the scene.
In the sequel, the story continued and Debbie’s ex-boyfriend reappeared in her life. Although she made it clear that she was married with children, he still had the gall to appear at her home unannounced. Try that crap in the US and you might just get your butt kicked.
In terms of performances, the acting in this film was great. Uche Jombo does a fabulous job playing the tolerant wife and it was great to see Van Vicker’s versatility as an actor.
“Jealous Husband” succeeds in exposing how insecurity and jealousy can ruin a person and a relationship. It’s an engrossing movie that aimed to entertain. RECOMMEND
