Title: MY SISTER’S KEEPER (1 – 3)
Starring: Jackie Appiah, Tonto Dikeh, Ruffy Samuel, Kalsoume Sinare
Synopsis:
A woman’s plans to marry the man of her dreams are intercepted when her sister arrives from abroad determined to break them up.
Review:
Chelsea (Jackie Appiah) is in love with Jacob (Ruffy Samuel), a man on a lower socioeconomic scale than her family. Her uppity parents played by Kalsoume Sinare and Kofi Adjorlolo disapprove of the relationship.
Chelsea underhandedly gets Jacob a job at her father’s company to improve his financial status. They intend to marry once she graduates from school but their plans are intruded upon when Nadia (Tonto Dikeh) returns from abroad and sets her eyes on Jacob.
Let’s Talk. “My Sister’s Keeper” is yet another story where two sisters fall for the same man. Although it doesn’t fall short in terms of entertainment, the theme here is a little tired. Jacob doesn’t appear to be the type of man that two sisters would want to kill each other over. Sigh…
In terms of story, Nadia’s father becomes wrapped up in her lies to steal Jacob away from Chelsea. Why didn’t he do what fathers do and pull her aside to reprimand her? Why didn’t he correct the situation? His only solution is to have Jacob killed? Cmon.
And then Nadia tells Jacob that the reason her father accepts their relationship is because she threatened to quit her career. Oh please. What kind of reason is that to make a father accept that one sister stole the other’s boyfriend?
Later in the story, as Nadia’s jealousy peaks, she injects Chelsea with a substance which leaves her unable to walk AND causes her to lose her memory?? Too far fetched. This is where “My Sister’s Keeper” climbed aboard the soap opera wagon and fell off.
In terms of acting, it is pretty good, however the story is in need of better writing. EJECT
