Synopsis: A bet between male friends results in one of them trying to sleep with three of his ex-girlfriends within a three week timeframe.
Review:
After sleeping with his ex-girlfriend who was currently engaged to someone else, Chuks, aka The Terminator (Blossom Chukwujekwu) attempted to get his two male friends to believe in Okafor’s Law. It’s a silly theory that states once a man has slept with a woman, he basically has a free pass to sleep with her continuously.
Terminator bet his friends that he could seduce three of his ex-girlfriends. His friends chose the most difficult choices in Ejiro, who had sworn off men, Tomi, who was all about business, and Ify, who was married to a wealthy but controlling man. Of course, things didn’t quite turn out as planned.
Let’s Talk. Boys will be boys. Another movie about the games men play along with the consequences. The lead character was named Terminator, which was a ridiculous name, but indicative of his sexual prowess. He was nothing but an immature player who saw women as sex objects.
He set out to prove Okafor’s Law and the reason he was able to succeed in some instances is because regardless of the theory, some people tend to continue having sex with someone they’re comfortable with. Even if there was a break-up, residual feelings play a part in sexual activity after the split. The problem comes in when someone feels used after the hook-up as the case in this story.
The storyline was reminiscent of those college campus dramas where a man’s only goal is to score. The undercurrent translates that women are easy, which is offensive, but at the end of the day it takes two to tango, and men are easier.
The movie had a dreary start although the premise had been established fairly early. There were unnecessary subplots such as the ones that followed Terminator’s homeboys. Not all of the women ended up in bed with Terminator – a smart move in terms of writing.
It was amazing to see the husband of one of the women set out to punish Terminator for sleeping with his wife. Why is it that when there’s infidelity the third party is always blamed? Should it not be the person in the relationship that cheated? That’s who broke the promise, right? And I’m not saying that Terminator was right because you don’t mess with someone’s wife but to see the husband kiss his wife with forgiveness and let her get away scot-free after she cheated was irksome.
For performances, Blossom Chukwujekwu was the right fit for the part. He played the character well along with Omoni Oboli who was the most interesting to watch of the three women.
The story wasn’t a profound one but that’s okay because clearly the goal here was to produce something light and entertaining. It’s something you watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon. RECOMMEND
