Title: ONE BITE (1 – 3)
Starring: Kenneth Okolie, Seun Akindele, Grace Ama
Synopsis:
A bitter man kidnaps the young daughter of his enemy seeking retribution for past sins.
Review:
Life was grand for Idris (Seun Akindele) until the day his 8-year old daughter went missing. She was kidnapped but the abductor wasn’t seeking money; he sought revenge.
The story dictated that Idris had a shady past and it came back to haunt him. Although the police conducted an investigation it was only Idris that could settle the dispute.
Let’s Talk. This is a thriller that carried out the story of a twisted man that sought revenge for circumstances that occurred twelve years prior. Two men were at war and a young girl was unfortunately placed in the middle.
This movie is similar to the African movie titled “Announcement” which had a similar premise. Even the threat of cutting off the little girl’s fingers was duplicated. Unique story? I think not.
To get to the point, I wasn’t at all invested in this movie. It had the ingredients of a good drama but evoked a mundane essence. The writer got to the point fairly quickly but the unfolding of events was rather sluggish.
Also, there were a few instances that I didn’t quite buy such as the amount of times that the kidnapped girl was able to untie herself. I mean, come on…. Also, unbelievable was the fact that the kidnapper would allow a woman into his home while he harbored a hostage. Actually, the motive for the kidnapping on the whole was questionable.
On a positive note, the acting was pretty good. I liked Kenneth Okolie’s portrayal of a twisted character and Seun Akindele and Grace Ama played the distressed parents pretty well.
This story served as a diversion from typical Nollywood movies. It’s directed by Eneaji Chris Eneng and although I appreciate his style, it wasn’t packed with the punch that it needed. EJECT
