Starring: Mike Ezuruonye, Kehinde Odukoya, Seun Akindele
Synopsis:
A married couple fights the demons of infertility and infidelity but a near death accident puts their issues into perspective.
Review:
Odion and Temisan appeared to be a doting couple but after seven years of marriage, Odion (Kehine Odukoya) had not produced a child and Temisan (Mike Ezuruonye) led a secret life.
Just when Odion finally became pregnant, Temisan was in a horrible car accident that left him in critical condition. While in a coma, he lingered between life and death and his only wish was to make amends.
Let’s Talk. This is another one of those movies where spirits roam the earth and zero in on their loved ones as they try to right their wrongs. It’s a blend of fantasy and drama that quite frankly, didn’t work.
If you’re familiar with my reviews you know that this website accepts that some movies are recycled. We’ve faced the fact that all movies won’t be original as is the case here. But when filmmakers remake a theme all we can ask is that they improve upon it and this is where this movie went downhill.
Nollywood’s “Living With a Ghost” and Hollywood’s “Ghost” were similar movies but this film didn’t come anywhere close to its predecessors in terms of story. It turned out to be an unsophisticated, unconnected, piece of writing which was nothing but duplication pieced together. The characters were difficult to become invested in and the story layout wasn’t the best.
Of course the lead character was cheating on his wife and for those that haven’t seen this movie, guess who he was having an affair with? You’ve got to know the answer to this. It’s such a common storyline in African movies. Sigh… This aspect alone was a major turn-off.
Performances were just okay. Mike Ezuruonye is one of my favorites, actually he starred in the above mentioned “Living with a Ghost” movie where he played a comparable role but even the best performers can’t save an ineffective script.
Overall, “One Moment In Time” missed the mark on being the sentimental, romantic love story it set out to be. EJECT
