Title: OTHER SIDE OF LOVE (1 & 2)
Starring: JJ Bunny, Ramsey Nouah, Pascal Atuma
Synopsis:
Stella runs a successful home healthcare agency and life is good until her jealous girlfriend reports her to the IRS for fraud.
Review:
Bukki (Adebola Adelekan) and Stella (JJ Bunny) are old friends that went to nursing school together however, Stella became a huge success and Bukki did not. Stella started a home care agency and Bukki harbored such resentment that she made up a bunch of lies about Stella’s agency to the IRS.
In fear of the IRS freezing her bank accounts Stella used a shady online establishment to transfer her money to Nigeria. Unbeknownst to Stella, her new boyfriend, Michael (Ramsey Nouah) was one of the guys behind the corrupt organization.
Let’s Talk “Other Side of Love” is shot in the US and is an interesting story. It reiterates the lengths people go through when they are envious of others.
Pascal Atuma displayed his humor and played Yakotay, one of the boys in the money ring. Just as life was looking great, Stella became involved in a money ring unaware that her troubles were caused by one of her so-called friends. But the hole that her friend dug for her is the very one that her friend wound up in.
As for comments, the IRS characters seemed spurious and it was too much of a coincidence that Michael (Stella’s boyfriend) turned out to be the brother of one of her friends. That part of the drama was unnecessary and didn’t move the story along in any way.
And there were errors. The word “Headquarters” was spelled incorrectly and there are other mistakes in the credits. Grammatical errors are frequent in African productions. For more on this topic, see the Nolly-Ghally Today report.
The great thing about JJ Bunny’s movies is that she always has a message. Jealousy is common among friends and she advised through the movie to bring each other up not down. If you get nothing else from this movie sip on that.
She also indirectly suggested to reevaluate friends as they can sometimes smile in your face but stab you in the back as seen in this production.
Performances here are okay and the chemistry between Ramsey and JJ Bunny was fabulous. RECOMMEND
