Title: PALACE CRISIS (1 & 2)
Sequel: PALACE ON FIRE (1 & 2)
Starring: Mercy Johnson, Van Vicker
Synopsis:
A local girl sets her eyes on the prince but when he falls for her best friend she makes it her mission to destroy their relationship.
Review:
The Queen (Ngozi Ezeonu) was in search of a bride for the Prince (Van Vicker). One day while shopping, she met Ekwy (Mercy Johnson) and she instantly took a liking to her and invited her to the palace.
When Ekwy was introduced to the prince, her materialistic and boasting ways surfaced. She was not the Prince’s idea of a wife however, Ekwy’s friend, Ebele (Nuella Njubuigbo) seemed to light his fire. Ekwy and her mother were not pleased with the Princes’s decision to pursue Ebele and they set out to extinguish the flame between the two.
Let’s Talk. This is another royal saga. The characters are contrasting, ranging from royal to ghetto which, makes this movie inviting and humorous.
In terms of story, there were one or two events that were not believable such as when the intruder entered the palace with a bag of tricks against the queen. It didn’t ring true that the King would believe the intruder instead of his own wife. Where was the trust and the bond of their marriage in that moment?
One comment regarding dialogue is when the king mentioned that his son would travel abroad and learn the “white man’s education.” Although the character’s point of view is understood, the comment is irksome because education has no color.
Other than the above, the acting in this film was great. The relationship between Ekwy and her mother, played by Chinyere Nwabueze, was wickedly good as well as the authenticity of the actors who played Ebele’s parents.
Mercy Johnson was fantastic. Watching her character run circles around the palace was hilarious. All four parts of this movie was time consuming but worth it. RECOMMEND
