Title: POT OF RICHES (1 – 4)
Starring: Francis Duru, ChaCha Eke Faani, Emeka Nwafor
Synopsis:
Ben, a successful businessman, joins a secret cult to protect himself from poverty but he must make the ultimate sacrifice to repay the organization.
Review:
Ben (Francis Duru) had it made. He had a wife that loved him, a home, and wealth. He was a generous man, however, anyone he gave money to mysteriously experienced failure. When recipients returned the money to him, their businesses immediately flourished. It was strange and no one could understand it.
A pastor deemed Ben’s money to be blood money. Unbeknownst to his wife and family, Ben feared poverty so much that he joined a cult that promised him wealth for life. Members of the cult worshipped the Great Akatura, who was made of both flesh and spirit.
Ben was suddenly paralyzed and couldn’t walk. His doctors wanted to amputate his legs but Ben sought other solutions. His wife prayed for him but he visited the Great Akatura for a cure. Akatura was wiling to wave his wand to give Ben the use of his legs again but Ben had to sacrifice someone that was dear to him in exchange.
Let’s Talk. This is another one of those tales about rituals and cults. We’ve seen similar stories so the question becomes whether this one was captivating. It did gain momentum after a bleak start.
The climax was when the main character, Ben (Francis Duru) was faced with the decision of his life. The story then became one of good versus evil as Ben’s family turned to God while Ben tried to combat God’s will with evil.
It’s amazing what people are willing to do for wealth, power, and fame. In this story, some even sacrificed their children. There’s always a cost when wealth is obtained through magic and the price is normally stratospheric.
The story itself was decent. It wasn’t the worst or the best. It was unnecessarily long but it’s important to understand the message that the writer was trying to convey. Keep the faith. God always provides.
Performances were satisfactory. Francis Duru led the way as a conflicted man torn between love and hate. He’s certainly a respectable actor and he was in good company with his co-stars.
Sound was actually decent but improved editing was needed which stems to better direction.
It’s a common goal to desire financial freedom but at the end of the day nothing beats the exchange of love, good health, and freedom. You know what they say; the best things in life are free. RECOMMEND
