Synopsis: A woman from a prosperous family falls for a man below her standards and has to deal with the fallout from her family.
Review:
Frankie (Nadia Buari) met the love of her life in the rain and events subsequent to their encounter were thunderous. Stanley (Adjetey Anang) wasn’t from an affluent upbringing and Frankie’s wealthy family disapproved of him. Despite family interference Frankie and Stanley’s love proved to weather the storm.
Let’s Talk. Rain is a love story about a wealthy heiress that fell for a regular guy. We’ve seen this story line many times but this version turned out to be okay.
The flaws started with the scene at the pool where Stanley was supposedly drowning. It fell short of being the cinematic moment it was supposed to be because Stanley hardly fought to get out of the pool, Instead he looked like a sissy. The pool scene was simply a contrived prerequisite to the dramatic moment when Frankie was to confess her love to Stanley for the first time.
The audience was later blindsided by Rockson’s (J.O.T. Agyeman) alter ego, which came out of nowhere and was difficult to swallow. If there were even an inkling to Rockson’s criminal capabilities it would have added an additional layer of suspense to the story.
As for errors, Atto Erick was not credited for playing the role of Gideon.
Having said the above, “Rain” is still a very watchable movie. Performances are on point and you will find yourself yearning for Stanley and Frankie to be together and that’s the essence of a good love story. RECOMMEND
