Synopsis:
A man is disturbed by a beautiful woman stalking him and discovers he was betrothed to her at infancy.
Review:
George (Michael Godson) had been experiencing ups and downs at work when he was unexpectedly promoted due to Claire’s (Ruth Kadiri) magical influence. Claire was a deity that had been following him around town and manipulating good fortune in his life.
Little did George know, he had been promised to Claire at birth when his mother enlisted her help to conceive a child. His mother paid with her life when she didn’t keep her end of the deal. When George rejected Claires’ love, it created an all out war that required God’s intervention to resolve.
Let’s Talk. This is one of those fantastical movies involving the supernatural and the desires of the heart. In this particular story, there was a woman who was desperate to conceive a child and she contracted a goddess for help but it wasn’t for free; there was a price to pay. She gave birth to a son (Michael Godson) and when he became of age he was supposed to marry the deity but he wanted no part of it.
The story was nothing new. It had similarities to “Bleeding Tree” which also featured a character who was unwittingly promised to a deity in exchange for conceiving. Both stories offered valuable lessons although “Bleeding Tree” was more captivating while “Sacred Promise” had more of a modern aura.
It was all about good versus evil and giving God thanks. The filmmakers evoked that all gifts are from God and displayed the length some go in order to achieve what they want.
Performances were satisfactory. Ruth Kadiri and Michael Godson played the main characters and both interpreted their roles well.
Audio and video were adequate.
After all was said and done, the events in the movie weren’t that harrowing but it also wasn’t a tedious watch. Honestly, I’ve come to expect more from Director, Tchidi Chikere. See it if you’re fan of this genre. RECOMMEND
