Starring: Lydia Forson, Chris Attoh, Kwame Sefa-Kayi, Ecow Smith Asante, Naa Ashorkor Mensah
Synopsis:
A woman who is emotionally and physically abused by her husband finally strikes back and must find a way to avoid prison and inherit his trust fund.
Review:
Dea became stuck in a loveless marriage when she found herself pregnant for a preacher’s son. To avoid a scandal in the church, the reverend threatened his son, Olando (Chris Attoh) to marry her or else he wouldn’t be entitled to his trust fund.
The funds were to be disbursed when Olando turned thirty-five and was married. If he died before age thirty-five then the fund would transfer to his wife. Olando is currently thirty-four and Dea was not aware of the inheritance when she married him.
A few weeks after the wedding, Dea lost the baby and she and Olando both felt stuck with each other. He wound up cheating on her and he also abused her. One hit too many and Dea struck back, sending him to the hospital.
During her visits to the hospital she met Bessa (Kwame Sefa-Kayi) who was tending to his sick wife. Dea and Bessa supported each other while their spouses were ill. Eventually, their friendship turned into a love affair.
Dea later learned of the trust fund and Olando’s father suspected his hospitalization was a result of foul play. He thought Dea was trying to kill Orlando for the money and he sent Perry (Ecow Smith-Asante) to investigate what really happened.
Perry presented himself as a detective and questioned Dea but ultimately looked out for himself instead of his client when he made a deal with her for a cut of the money. Little did he know, she had a game of her own going on.
Let’s Talk. This is a drama. Here the characters and story are weaved together so well that you don’t know what’s coming next.
The characters were written to be flawed but well layered. There’s Dea – the victim with a sinister side, Rev. Thompson – an underhanded preacher, Bessa – the loyal husband who cheated just once, and Perry – the hired help who stole from the hands that fed him.
“Scorned” offers intrigue, romance and revenge – all the ingredients of a good drama. With a little scheming, it’s our protagonist that comes out on top, as she should.
In terms of performances, Lydia Forson rocks. She’s the victim, she’s sneaky, she’s cute, she’s angry, she just has all this stuff going on that compels you to watch her.
Chris Attoh played a jerk really well here. The remaining performers sufficed making “Scorned” another hit for Sparrow Productions. RECOMMEND

I love the soundtrack music from the likes of Stanley Okorie and S.John..they are on the soundtrack in 2 of these movies…yeess it’s gonna be a good day.
Movie marathon. I love it.
Heeyy Talk African Movie..HELP yea I need some help/advise..you already know how I talk about original copy movies BUT there came a time I ordered from this movie company cause they had some old classics I really wanted and this company operates big time out of NY web site and all. Ok “Scorned” is one..oh how I love this movie and as you can see in my comment when I got this movie (date). I have not played this movie over 5 times so one day last week I got the urge to watch it and before the end it start freezing now mine you I take care of my cd’s and dvd’s like a champ..never lend them out..so today I started watching “Beautiful faces” disc 1..guess what? it start freezing. Look at my Feb 13 2015 comment the other 4 titles are also bootlegs. I also watched “The Governor’s Gift” today with no problems..check this now when I first watched “4 Sister” one of the disc was freezing I sent it back and they replaced it but to God be the glory I found a movie site that had the original copy and you better bet I ordered it. I wish I had the original copies of those 6 bootlegs. I’m not sure what the problem is with the bootleg copies..could it be be quality of the disc? they sho don’t last playing/showing correct. I have 29 original copy movies and never had any problems yet…what say you?
JJ, the African movie DVD industry is not what it once was. Once originals are sold out it’s hard to find them again unless the distributor re-releases it. That’s where the bootleg industry comes in bc they make copies. Of course the quality isn’t as good but I’ve seen a few originals that weren’t so good either. It is what it is. I’ll keep an eye out for an original copy of Scorned the next time I shop for movies. Haven’t been shopping as much bc I have sooo many new movies to watch. By the way, it could be your DVD player too.
Yeaa I thought about that too and you have given me an idea. I will go to my neighbor house and check them out on their machine.
