Title: SECRET BURDEN (1 – 4)
Starring: Nadia Buari, John Dumelo
Synopsis:
The institute of marriage is explored through two couples who frame the question of how to have a successful and loyal marriage.
Review:
After ten years Ekow and Sena’s (John Dumelo, Nadia Buari) marriage seemed to be at a dead end. Ekow’s long time friend cheated on his wife and he encouraged Ekow to “spice up” his marriage by doing the same.
Ekow was reluctant to cheat at first but then followed suit. His marriage spiraled out of control when his wife learned of the affair.
Let’s Talk. This movie well played by it’s cast. The story addresses the question of whether a woman should be attractive for her man or for herself. Clearly, the writer’s take on the question is that a woman should continue to keep herself up in order to keep her husband or she may lose him. And that was the result of Ekow and Sena’s marriage. Ekow was no longer attracted to his wife and as a result he had an affair.
In regard to the second couple, Akua (Selassie Ibrahim) remained beautiful through the years and her husband (Ekow Blankson) still cheated on her. So what’s true in both cases is that the men cheated regardless.
The fact of the matter is that a woman should keep herself attractive for herself. In the event that her man cheats, she’ll be fit and ready for the next man in her life. Holla!
This movie doesn’t elaborate on men maintaining their looks, which suggests that the man is the prize in the relationship. Why does the woman have to work to keep a man and not the other way around? Should a woman still be with a man if HE becomes unattractive? Should she put up with a potbelly, a receding hairline, and bad breath just because he’s her husband? That should be the topic of this writer’s next movie.
At the end of the day it’s up to both parties to keep the fire burning. RECOMMEND
