Synopsis:
A newlywed couple moves into an estate and as they attempt to become acquainted with their neighbors they come across their exes who are also married and coincidently living in the complex.
Review:
Imelda and Michael purchased a home in a private estate. The two met under strange circumstances but nonetheless they fell in love and got married.
Imelda (Yvonne Nelson) was curious about the neighbors and dragged Michael (Jose Tolbert) along to meet them. They rang the doorbell of every resident and met all sorts of situations. Among them were a lesbian couple and a young woman that was married to a man old enough to be her grandfather.
The most interesting neighbors were Wendy and Greg (Roselyn Ngissah & Toosweet Annan). They were a married couple that turned out to be Imelda and Michael’s exes.
Jealousy sparked for the two couples and as distant as each household appeared, they were closer knit than expected.
Let’s Talk. This movie is classic Pascal Amanfo – multiple storylines with infidelity at the root. Cheating was the name of the game and it was basically the same ol’ same ol.’
Lesbians and a couple with an age gap made up the subplots as well as Peterson, a weird character played by Pascal Amanfo. This character seemed to be withering away in depression and hadn’t uttered a word in years.
The storylines were limp and lacked depth but that’s okay because the premise was comedy. The main characters, Imelda and Michael drove the story while Pascal Amanfo narrated.
Pascal revealed himself as the narrator at the end as though we were supposed to be surprised that is was him. C’mon, man. We knew it was you. Only viewers who are not familiar with your movies wouldn’t know.
Speaking of Pascal Amanfo; it’s time for him to stop acting. He’s a much better director than actor. When he acts he loses prestige as a director. I’m just sayin’…
There were some scenes here that required parental discretion. It seems that African movies are no longer providing necessary movie ratings.
Speaking of scenes, there’s one where Imelda (Yvonne Nelson) proposed marriage to Michael (Jose Tolbert). Was this supposed to encourage women to pop the question? I mean, what else do men want us to do? Should men just wear skirts and lipstick and get it over with?
As for performances there’s really nothing to comment about. Video and audio were decent.
Ultimately, this movie was made in the name of fun and sometimes life calls for a little comedy. It was tacky at times but there were also some laughs. The bottom line is that we’ve seen this movie before in previous Pascal Amanfo movies. EJECT
