Starring: Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Andy Chukwu, Adaora Ukoh
Synopsis:
A young woman schemed her way into bed with her best friend’s boyfriend but when the man of her dreams appeared, revenge was on the horizon.
Review:
“If I can’t have him then neither will you.” This was basically the mentality of Lucia (Ini Edo), the lead character of the movie. Lucia had everything going for her. She was the prettiest of her friends but jealous and competitive. She couldn’t accept the fact that all of her friends had wealthy men and she didn’t.
Her friend, Pamela (Uche Jombo) had a boyfriend that spoiled her rotten. Collins (Steven Pepple) was not only handsome but also loaded and he generously bought Pamela a house and a car.
Pamela made the mistake of confiding in Lucia about her use of charms that kept Collins in her life. Lucia begrudgingly told Pamela’s secret to Collins and even sent him to witness the ritual for himself. The next thing we know, Pamela was forced out of the house, her car was repossessed, and she later found Collins in Lucia’s arms.
Similar scenarios repeated itself throughout the movie. Lucia had a habit of stealing her friends’ men but somehow the relationships were always short lived. She was hell bent on her agenda to find a man of financial means and when Mr. Right finally came knocking so did her wicked past.
Let’s Talk. This is a story about a woman who secretly believed that she was better than her friends. She couldn’t accept that her friends had better lives and better men and she silently set out to destroy their happiness.
At the core Lucia wasn’t a friend to anyone as she betrayed the trust of everyone she came across. Some men fell for her trickery while others saw beyond her pretty face. This brought a level of realism to the movie because instead of having every man fall for Lucia’s flirtations there were men who actually resisted her advances and one even gave her a bounced check.
Finally, a man of status came around and asked for Lucia’s hand in marriage. If only she had waited for God’s time instead of taking matters into her own hands. When word got out that she was engaged there were so many women that had it out for her. Revenge came knocking and as a result her fiancé closed the door on their relationship.
This movie is indeed entertaining and offered an interesting message in that jealousy is not becoming. Lucia wound up with nothing and the movie displays that in order to have friends you have to be a friend.
Overall, it’s a decent story and performances were on par. Ini Edo was fantastic at playing a man stealer. Uche Jombo had a small role but her character had the last laugh. RECOMMEND

Seen this one also..would have purchased it too but it can’t be found.
Yes, this movie is a classic. One of Ini’s best roles.
Do you know of any stores/sites where African movies can be purchased?
I like buying movies from local stores. It’s my contribution to keeping them in business. For online purchases try http://www.africanmoviesclub.com. Sometimes they don’t put descriptions of the movies that they’re selling but they tend to re-release old fan favorites like “Beyonce” and “Passion of the Soul.”
Ok thanks..I will check them out.
