SINGLE MARRIED & COMPLICATED

Starring: Yvonne Nelson, Chris Attoh, Alexx Ekubo, Tana Adelana, John Dumelo, Eddie Watson

Synopsis:

Three couples experience the ups and downs of love with trust as the underlying factor.

Review:

Anita Erskine narrated “Single Married and Complicated” as it dipped in and out of situations while it examined the characters relationships.

Jay and Kimora (Chris Attoh & Yvonne Nelson), a recently wed couple, suffered infidelity early in their marriage. When Kimora’s male friend came to stay with them for a week, Jay just about lost his mind when he suspected they were fooling around.

Andy (Eddie Watson), a sex addict that once labeled himself “a player for life” sought psychiatric advice when he couldn’t develop a meaningful, committed relationship with a woman. He subsequently met the woman of his dreams but his past put a monkey wrench in the courtship.

Charles and Trish (John Dumelo & Berla Mundi) are another married couple that experienced marital woes. Charles was no longer attracted to Trish and it led to problems in the bedroom. Playing dress-up was meant to create sexual spark but it wasn’t the ideal solution.

Vida (Tana Adelana) celebrated the finalization of her divorce by having sex with her lover on a boat. While her new man confessed his love to her, he had financial shortages and ulterior motives.

Let’s Talk. “Single, Married & Complicated” is about the obvious but it wasn’t complicated in any capacity. It’s the follow-up to Yvonne Nelson’s “Single and Married” but the question of the day remains why was a sequel necessary?

Chris Attoh and Yvonne Nelson once again led the movie while Eddie Watson and Tana Adelana reprised their roles from the original series.

The situations were the same ol’ same ol’ – lack of trust, infidelity, and rich women being used for money. But as mentioned on the Movie Ratings Page, this is the way of the movie industry. Movies are simply recycled and original stories are few and far between.

The banter amongst the women phrased this one question: “what do men really want?” I’m not sure the movie actually offered an explanation but the answer is twofold: Some men know what they want while others do not. A woman can’t possibly know what a man wants if he doesn’t.

For the men that have figured it out, they can tell you that they’re seeking the basic things that women want – love, companionship, and sex. (Not necessarily in that order).

As for performances, the movie was cast with some of Ghana’s most popular actors. They were paired well with Yvonne Nelson and Chris Attoh having the best chemistry. Their loving rapport worked and they were cute as a couple.

John Dumelo was presented late in the movie but he had one of the funniest moments when he appeared dressed up as superman. Chris Attoh complemented the movie with humor as well. Some of the lesser-known actors were indeed less talented.

“Single Married & Complicated” is a light-hearted movie that meant well but was pointless. If you saw the prequel (which I liked) then there’s no reason to see this one. It’s one hundred percent more of the same and didn’t improve upon the original. EJECT
