Synopsis:
Six women weather the storm of being single as the search to find “the one” proves to be a dicey task.
Review:
The Single Six are as follows:
YOLANDA (Ebi Bright) is a highly successful woman. Just when she thought she met her match in Hank (Adjetey Anang), he turned out to be a snake in the grass. She narrated the story and kept us abreast of her girlfriend’s love lives while she experienced her own turmoil.
TITANIA (Yvonne Okoro) was tending to business in her grocery store when football star, Tony (Eddie Watson) rushed in. He wanted to use the bathroom and the opportunity presented itself for the two to become acquainted. It seemed like a dream come true but Tony misrepresented himself and Titania hid a major part of her past.
KENDRA (Beverly Afaglo) had a career in law enforcement. She was tough and diligent about the job but failed to separate business from personal when she fell in love with fellow detective, Brad (John Dumelo).
KRISTINE (Ciara Zita Galega) was dating real estate tycoon, Quincy (Prince David Osei). Unfortunately, his demanding career left very little time for her.
SENERA (MzBel) was a famous Nollywood actress. She believed she found true love in movie Director, Wayne (Timothy Bentum) but he spent his career surrounded by other pretty actresses…
ZILA (Zynell Zuh) was in love with her neighbor and suffered disappointment when she learned that his heart belonged to someone else.
Let’s Talk. “Single Six” follows six women in their quest for “Mr. Right.” They’re an attractive group of women with a variety of careers that all shared the common goal of that special trip down the aisle.
Pascal Amanfo wrote and directed and he competently executed various storylines. Although each situation was engaging, the drama didn’t really offer anything we haven’t heard before. Most of the men cheated and only one of five tied the knot. True to life statistics? Hmm…
The movie doesn’t explore why the men cheated and implied that men cheat because they can. Although career women were highlighted, most came off as gullible, which was an unfair representation of women.
The women that found potential husbands questioned whether they were “the one” for their mate but an equally important question should have been was he “the one” for her? The question has to go both ways in order for the relationship to work.
It’s important that women value themselves as an equal partner. Why should a woman question if she’ll be any good in a man’s life and not question whether he’d enhance hers?
Performances were okay. The best storyline was the one that featured Yvonne Okoro, Eddie Watson, and Eunice Ohene. Titania (Yvonne Okoro) wanted to present herself as the perfect picture, and she chose not disclose her past mistakes to Tony (Eddie Watson). Her past turned out to be her saving grace and threw her life into perspective.
There wasn’t a moment of boredom and the camaraderie among the women seemed sincere. As the movie states, women are the most fascinating creatures on earth and men were best described as unpredictable. So be it. RECOMMEND
