Title: SPELLBOUND (1 & 2)
Sequel: FIREBRAND (1 & 2)
Starring: Desmond Elliott, Nse Ikpe Etim, Benjamin Joseph, Chioma Chukwuka
Synopsis:
A woman deals with a stressful work environment when her new boss turns out to be a man she had a one-night stand with.
Review:
Three girlfriends go on a weekend getaway. While there, Vera had an intimate encounter with Greg, who is a guy that she met at a bar. She returned to work and found that her new boss is the very man she slept with on the trip.
Let’s Talk. Although this movie had some good moments, it took entirely too long to get to the climax of story, which ended up being lame.
As for comments, for Vera’s (Nse Ikpe-Etim) fiancé to wind up marrying one of her friends in the end just did not resonate as believable.
Although the acting, for the most part was on par, something about this film was unconnected and flat.
The story continued in the sequel titled “Firebrand.” Here, the story delves into office politics as Febian (Benjamin Joseph) continues to pursue Stella (Chioma Chukwuka) who is his employee. He finally succeeds but all hell broke loose when is wife found out.
At one point in the movie we saw Stella in prison for the theft and the next time we saw her she was a lawyer in court defending a client. This is one extreme to the next. Shouldn’t there have been a subtitle informing the audience of a significant lapse of time?
From Stella going to prison, to Feyi’s arrest for drug possession (huh?) to the Stella’s secret love child, this film was all over the map. It’s a poorly executed story that dragged on forever. EJECT
