TEMPTATION

Title: TEMPTATION (1 – 3)

Starring: Majid Michel, Martha Ankomah, Frank Artus

Synopsis:

A young couple’s seemingly happy marriage is marred with infidelity, games, and blackmail.

Review:

Sometimes when a marriage isn’t working out, a spouse may be tempted to look elsewhere for something new, fresh, and exciting. Michael (Majid Michel) gave in to these urges when he met sexy Trisha (Zynell Zuh). She was married and so was he so why not?  But as the saying goes, all that glitters isn’t gold and this is the lesson Michael learned when he cheated on his wife.

Let’s Talk. This is a bowl of sex, murder, and blackmail and boy is it tasty. It’s a movie about love, blackmail, and betrayal that’s exciting. A marriage on the rocks led to an affair and the betrayer found himself marching to the drum of a blackmailer.

One of the faults with this film were the subtitles provided onscreen. They were not proper grammar which is embarrassing. This happens quite a bit in African movies and better editing his required.

Another pinch were the blatantly fake Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior handbags. If a character is supposed to look successful, an obviously fake designer bag will negate that impression. The female characters would have been better off wearing regular handbags or better imitations that wouldn’t raise an eyebrow.

The closing credits had some errors. Frank Artus was listed as GREG Artus and Zynell Lydia Zuh was listed as Zynell LYCLIA Zuh. Sigh… See NollyGhally Today for more on industry errors.

The acting for the most part was great. There’s no need to talk about Majid, we know he’s got it. As for Frank Artus, the bad boy roles seem to be his calling card rather than the romantic leads he normally plays.

Martha Ankomah brought the heat as usual. She nailed it as the devoted wife and mother. Zynell Lydia Zuh was believable as the seductress. She’s probably the only woman in the world who can pull off wearing color contacts and not look like she’s trying too hard.

“Temptation” is captivating except for two items related to the story: 1) it’s strange that Nikki’s ex-boyfriend would be her doctor and 2) the reasons Queen (Salma Mumin) gave for her lies were lame. There should have been a stronger reason for her actions. Other than that the movie is off the chain. You’ll be “tempted” to watch it again. RECOMMEND
