Review:
Emeka and Adaku were expecting their first child when a spacious duplex was up for sale. Emeka was introduced to the house by a real estate agent and the asking price seemed too good to be true. Adaku had reservations about buying the home but there was no stopping Emeka once he got an idea into his head.
The couple scraped up the money to purchase the house and moved in. Life was grand until some strange occurrences. Adaku often saw visions of ghosts and her hysteria eventually led to a miscarriage. Emeka thought she was going crazy until he later experienced the same creepy images.
It was time to get to the bottom of the mystery and Emeka did just that. He investigated and found out that the house was stolen from its original owner thanks to falsified documents. The owner died but preyed upon every family that occupied the house from his grave. But how do you give a dead person back their property? That was the question Emeka had to answer.
Let’s Talk. This is a suspense thriller. Omoni Oboli and Mike Ezuruonye played a couple that was duped by an unscrupulous real estate agent. This genre isn’t as popular as the relationship or village stories so it was sort of a treat but it had its faults.
First off, at the first sign of a ghost Adaku actually stayed in the house instead of running for her life. That particular scene reminded me of one of those Hollywood horror films where the protagonist doesn’t leave when it’s painfully obvious that there’s danger and then the audience winds up yelling at the screen hoping the character will hear their warning. These types of scenes are successful at building emotion but they’re also equally annoying.
The next thing we knew Adaku was asleep on the couch. How could she fall asleep when she was frightened just minutes ago that a stranger was in the house?
The pregnancy. Adaku looked like she was about eight months pregnant when she moved in. As the movie progressed, subtitles indicated that six months had passed yet Adaku was still pregnant! How could that be? Did she carry the baby for fourteen months?
Also questionable was the fact that Emeka purchased a home that his wife never saw until they moved in. What wife would allow her husband to buy a home without her approval? Come on.
There were other debatable factors and coincidences that marred the story but Emeka’s determination to protect his wife and investment gave the movie enough intrigue to maintain viewer interest.
Most impressive was the acting. Omoni Oboli and Mike Ezuruonye played a married couple with ease. Omoni played the complacent wife and Mike the ambitious husband and they didn’t disappoint.
Overall, this was a mixed bag due to story issues but Omoni and Mike turned it up a notch. See it if you’re a fan of the actors because the story is just so-so. RECOMMEND

It started out pretty good and it was spooky but became boring and so much discussion made it even more boring.
