Title: THE ENGAGEMENT (1 – 2)
Sequel: NONE
Starring: Martha Ankomah, Nikki Samonas, Emmanuel Emoabino
Synopsis:
A man that believed his girlfriend was dead runs into her on the streets years later and doesn’t understand why she doesn’t recognize him.
Review:
For two years, Carlos believed the love of his life was dead – that is until she walked into his photography shop one afternoon. She had no idea who he was and he was shocked. When he attempted to maneuver himself back into her life, her sister pulled out all the stops to hinder the relationship.
Let’s Talk. This is a drama. What’s wrong with this story is that Carlos came across Samira (Martha Ankomah) who he knows is his girlfriend. Why didn’t he investigate to find out why she doesn’t even know her own name? Why didn’t he make it his business to find out what happened to her over the past two years that she was missing? Someone had to have given her the alias, “Maria”, and for a reason.
Another pinch in the movie is that Carlos should have instantly suspected Leonie the minute she made her attraction to him known.
As noted above, there were some questionable things about the story but the movie still flowed well and it’s shorter than most African films. It’s just okay. See it if you’re bored. RECOMMEND
