Title: THE KING IS MINE (1 & 2)
Starring: Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo, Nadia Buari
Synopsis:
Animosity brews between two sisters when they are both presented with the opportunity to become the wife of King Duala.
Review:
Louisa (Nadia Buari) is deeply attracted to King Duala (John Dumelo) but he chooses her sister, Rose (Jackie Appiah) over her. Louisa’s rejection prompts her to devise a scheme to destroy their marriage. But as the saying goes “what goes around comes around” and it’s a royal faux pas that causes Louisa to lose it all.
Let’s Talk. “The King is Mine” is a modern day royal saga with cell phones and digital cameras to boot.
At one point during the story Rose became pregnant and the King didn’t believe he was the father. Because of the advanced technology seen in the film it’s safe to say that the story takes place in a current period. And if that’s the case how come Rose didn’t take a paternity test to prove King Duala was the father? The story can’t take place in today’s times and then flip to ancient times for convenience.
Also, Louisa was hell bent on destroying the marriage between her sister and the King. When she told the King that Clint (Omar De 1st) was the baby’s father and not him, a flashlight should have went off in his head. Why wasn’t he immediately on to her shenanigans?
Speaking of flashlights, how come Louisa and her brother didn’t see the flashlight when the maiden snapped a picture of them in a compromising position?
Performances? Decent.
Video and audio were adequate.
Despite the lingering questions, “The King is Mine” was entertaining.
