Title: THE TRUTH (Full Story)
AKA: I BROKE MY HEART
Starring: Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro, Mike Ezuruonye
Synopsis:
A rich and bored housewife invites an old girlfriend to move into her home and later suspects that she’s having an affair with her husband.
Review:
Melody (Yvonne Okoro), is a rich and bored housewife. She wants a job but her husband Desmond (Mike Ezuruonye) opposes it. One day she runs into a childhood friend, Juliet (Yvonne Nelson) who she hasn’t seen in ages. Juliet is a broke, local girl so Melody hires her to help out with domestic chores and babysitting.
Juliet moves into the house and Melody showers her with new clothes and a new look and she elevates from village girl to fashion plate. Juliet’s husband can’t help but notice the new, hot-looking, Juliet. And whenever he’s “away on business” Juliet is also out of town. Hmm…
Let’s Talk. This is a drama. The writers toyed with infidelity and insecurities and threw in a little suspense. The characters are well off, educated people that are well played by Okoro, Ezuruonye, and Nelson.
One tidbit worth mentioning is a scene where Desmond was going to a party and told his wife that it’ll be too late for him to come back home so he would return the next day. Huh? Since when is it too late to come back to your own home? And why didn’t his wife respond to that BS line?
As for technical errors, when the credits rolled at the end of this movie, Yvonne Nelson is credited twice; once for playing Juliet and again for playing Melody, which Ms. Okoro played. Huge mistake.
Ultimately, Melody confronting the person who indeed knew “the truth” would have been the best closure for this movie.
Overall, this film was enjoyable. Please note that the movie is also known as “I Broke My Heart.” RECOMMEND
