Review:
In terms of story, it’s simple; we have a law authority fall for a criminal. We’ve seen this story line before and we’ve read it before so honestly the premise isn’t so creative. But something about “Touch My Soul” keeps the audience curiously watching, presuming to see how this writer’s version of the theme will pan out.
It’s a cat and mouse chase and the audience believes they know where the story is headed but then it throws us for a loop.
The ending was unpredictable and the unexpected is always a plus but in this case the ending negated all of the preceding drama between the main characters.
Let’s Talk. Instead of the ending the writer came up with, it would have been more captivating to see these characters who are on opposite ends of the spectrum become deeply involved and then have to figure out where to go from there.
Does she end it with him and turn him in to the authorities or does she conform to his way of life? Does he retire his criminal lifestyle or does he conclude money is more important than love? Maybe they run away together. But instead the audience was playfully teased with only sexual tension between the two – which, by the way, worked.
Martha Ankomah and Frank Artus are on top of their game in this romantic thriller and they make the movie exciting although a little more was expected from the story.
Director, Kensteve Anuka has picked up the pace in story telling and this is one of his better movies. Overall, not bad.
