Title: TRAPPED IN THE GAME (1 & 2)
Sequel: END OF TRAPPED IN THE GAME
Starring: Majid Michel, JJ Bunny, Yvonne Nelson, Frank Artus
Synopsis:
Lisa is the target of a conspiracy but the game changes when the ringleader falls for her.
Review:
Lisa (JJ Bunny) was down in the dumps when she learned that her doctor removed her womb during surgery without her consent. Making matters worse was the fact that her husband, Sheik (Frank Artus) was cheating on her with her best friend, Chloe (Yvonne Nelson). But it was all a plan to dupe the wealthy Lisa out of her cash and properties.
The mastermind was Kelvin (Majid Michel) and she met for the first time at a nightclub. They landed in bed together and Kelvin found himself falling for her. He eventually decided that he wanted out of the game because Lisa was worth more to him than money. Easier said than done because his partners in crime weren’t having it.
Let’s Talk. This is a thriller that starts out with the typical situation where a woman is screwing her best friend’s man. How many times have we seen this story line? Sigh….
As the film progressed and Kelvin was incorporated into the story, the movie improved greatly. The love between Kelvin and Lisa happened so fast that it was unclear whether Kelvin was really serious about her or just playing the game.
As for story issues, in the beginning of the movie when Lisa ran down the hall in the hotel searching for the “other woman” that just left her husband’s room, Chloe was seen hiding around the corner. As Lisa came close to catching Chloe, she suddenly slowed her pace. This was a fake, contrived moment in the film.
If Lisa really wanted to see who just left her husband’s hotel room she would have been running fast, down every hall, around every corner, without stopping in order to catch the mysterious woman involved with her husband. Also, how convenient that Chloe got away.
Ultimately, “Trapped in the Game” is a fast paced drama devoid of yawning. If you so much as blink you could miss something. Some of the dialogue was actually funny and the chemistry between Majid and JJ Bunny was great. RECOMMEND
