Title: TRUE STORY (1 & 2)
Starring: Nkem Owoh, Ini Edo, Chinelo Oloh, Gaddiel Onwudiwe, Pat Asore, Ifeanyi Ikechukwu
Synopsis:
Papi finds solace in a young ,pretty, woman when his pregnant wife turned into a relentless complainer.
Review:
Papi (Nkem Owoh) mismanaged his fortune and wound up poor and residing in the village with his pregnant wife, Oyoo (Ini Edo). Pregnancy got the worst of her and she complained nonstop and was never satisfied.
One day while hunting in the woods Papi meets a young woman, Igbemma (Chinelo Oloh). She’s attractive, smart, and easy to talk to. They shared a lot in common and she became Papi’s daily relief from his wife’s constant nagging.
One thing led to another and he impregnated her. With two babies on the way, Papi suggested moving Igbemma into his matrimonial home. Oyoo wasn’t having it and stormed out to pay Igbemma a visit.
After the confrontation Igbemma was shaken up a bit. She then attempted to terminate her pregnancy through an unconventional method and she accidentally poisoned herself to death. But this wasn’t the end of Igbemma; she visited Papi and Oyoo in spirit.
Let’s Talk. “True Story” brings us home to the village and vividly shares the lifestyle and culture of the community. You can almost feel the warm temperature there and you may even find yourself swatting a fly. While there we were able to eavesdrop on Papi and Oyoo’s rocky marriage.
Writer/Director, Tchidi Chikere put a new spin on the term love triangle. Cheating is common but “the other woman” pulling the strings from her grave is a trip! In the end the triangle found peace and so do we.
In terms of acting, do you have to ask? We’re talking Nkem and Ini, two of the best. They were completely believable in their roles as a married couple.
As for complaints there aren’t any worth mentioning. Two thumbs up. RECOMMEND
