UNFORESEEN

Starring: Mary Lazarus, IK Ogbonna, Daniel Lloyd

Synopsis:
A woman in search of Mr. Right is unaware that the man of her dreams is already in her life.

Review:
The movie opens up to the tearful Amy (Mary Lazarus) who was heartbroken over a break-up. She was a serial dater on the hunt for a husband but she seemed to settle for all the wrong men.

The next mistake up was Jay (Ikay Ogbonna) who Amy rushed into a relationship with. He turned out to be a loser and she was once again at her wits end over another failed romance.

Meanwhile Amy’s friends pretended to have perfect boyfriends and she later discovered that the man of her dreams was someone in her circle that she inadvertently overlooked.

Let’s Talk. Once again we have a romantic drama that explores the search for the ideal mate. It was the typical situation with a single female lead with girlfriends placed in the mix to encourage her along the journey. This is normally the winning formula but it didn’t work here.

First off, the story was dry. It was made up of uninteresting characters including the lead character, Amy, played by Mary Lazarus. She’s actually a decent actress but she was surrounded by subpar talent for girlfriends.

The topic itself is universal as single people all over the world hope to find their soulmate while some women feel the pressure of a ticking biological clock. So on that note, the story was realistic but it failed to be enlightening or compelling.

The only glimpse of humor came from Daniel Lloyd’s character who was competent enough to see through all of Amy’s mistakes. He served as her voice of reason and she disregarded his value in her life.

As for performances, it was a mixed cocktail that ranged from good to dreadful. The more seasoned actors were Mary, Daniel, and IK who gave decent portrayals of their characters.

My favorite scene? The one where Mary had a moment of solitude and prayed to God for a husband. It made her character relatable and was touching to watch.

Sound was in need of improvement as usual. Sigh…

Overall, there was nothing “Unforeseen” about this movie; it was as predictable as the rising of the sun. EJECT
